Through a nutrient transporter called PepT1, not a surface receptor. PepT1 normally carries small peptide fragments into intestinal cells, and KPV, being a tripeptide, is small enough to use the same route. That makes PepT1 expression a key variable in cell models studying its uptake.
It is the tail end of that hormone. Alpha-MSH has both melanocortin pigment activity and NF-κB inhibitory activity, and those functions sit in different parts of the molecule. KPV is the three-residue piece that retains the NF-κB inhibitory activity without the region linked to pigment activity.
Each lot is measured at ≥99% by HPLC, with identity confirmed by mass spectrometry. An independent third-party laboratory clears every batch before it is released, and the matching certificate is published against the lot number marked on the vial.
Keep it frozen and dry. The lyophilized powder is stored at −20 °C, sealed from light, with −80 °C preferred for long-term storage. Once reconstituted, refrigerate the solution at 2 to 8 °C, use it within a validated window, and avoid putting it through repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
